Novemer 2: homework

1) How does advertising influence consumption?
One advertisement takes up a lot of natural resources. Oil and wood are two of the things thy are needed to make things that advertises like: posters, billboards, fliers and more.

2) Do you think citizens are sufficiently informed about sustainability issues?
Students are the ones who knows about sustainability issues the most from school. People like adults who work won't know unless they learn about it so the students pass it on to the adults and it starts to spread.

3) If not, how can we become more informed about sustainability issues?
Sustainability issues should be informed/advertised on posters, billboards, fliers, and more.

4) Do you think these advertising techniques influence what you and your friends purchase?
Advertisements are created by professionals so it always have to look interesting and stand out. The creator is looking from the teens perspective for inspiration to create an advertisement on posters, billboards, etc,. Teens like us would just be amazed if the advertisement has celebrities wearing or use a product.

Immigration Story - Moving to China

I remembered when I moved to China and had to adapt to the new environment. The culture is pretty similar to Vietnam because China used to rule our country. The migration that my family and I made is internal because we relocated in Asia. My dad's company moved to China, that's why he had to go too. It'll be lonely for my dad; therefore my mom and I decided to go love with him in China. In my opinion, my family and I moved to China because of a push factor.

My face didn't look so happy on the day we left to China. At least I would still remember some of the Vietnamese culture because my mom would be helping and supporting me with my Vietnamese. The three of us went without my grandmother and brother, I would miss them a lot but my parents would surely arrange a flight for them to come out and visit sometime. When I got there, I wanted to run back to Vietnam. People were spitting on the walkway and onto the highway when they're on a car. Living there for a period of time changed my perspective about China. I interacted with more friends in school and for the first time, I thought another country was better than Vietnam because it was more developed. China really helped me learn that don't ever judge a place when you just got there. You have to takre your time, and adjust to the way how people live there.

A Message From Mother Nature

  • 1. The Earth is being effected by greenhouse gases which is  making the planet to warm up. This cases the extreme weather and climate change such as heavier rainstorms in summer, bigger snowstorms in winter, etc.
  • 2. Perception - understanding or apprehending
  • Conteding - struggling or competing
  • Intense - strong or high degree
  • Preception - an order or command you have to follow
  • 3. We experience climate change only for a short time but weather can go on for a very long time.
  • 4. Worst flood in Pakistan
  • Us, Flodding battered new England, then recode-breaking head wave baked the entire eastern part of the country
  • Recode-breaking heat wave along with recode-breaking drought destroyed millions of acres.
  • 5. Ho Chi Minh City has been raining a lot lately, it causes floods which causes heavy traffic.
  • 6. Perception - understanding or apprehending
  • 7. You need to appreciate what you have and treat your planet well to have a good world you want to live in. At least respect your community even if the world still causes a heavy rainstorm without you doing it.

Doughnutvillian presents Sportsmania

There are four islands in my world. The island in Northwest is called Soccerville. Next to Soccerville which is the Northeast part is called Basketania. In the Southwest has an island called Swimmer's Farm and on the right side of it, there's an island called Track Castle. There is a pond in the middle of the island with flows to four directions: north, south, east and west.

Like I said in the location paragraph, there's a small pond in the middle of the island. There are rivers between every islands and the water comes from the pond. There are two mountains in Basketania called Mount Basket; no other islands have mountains. Next to every island, there is on volcano which is extremely hot because it is active in the MAL (My After Life) time when the islands were still apart. The parts of the islands that are facing the volcanoes are much hotter than the parts facing the rivers so most of the humans in "Doughnutvillian presents Sportsmania" wears clothes that shows a lot of skin since the weather is burning hot. The traditional food is doughnut because people play a lot of sports so you eat doughnuts during the break and you'll have the energy to play the game that you're playing. In Soccerville, you would usually hear people saying "kick", "pass" and "goal." People usually say "zone", "press", "man on man/woman on woman" and "shoot" in Basketania. The language in Swimmer's farm and Track Castle are kind of similar because you usually hear one word which is "sprint."

Soccerville has houses that looks like goals. Some places have no population because people don't want to move to an empty place. There are some diamonds in the outside part of Soccerville because it's near the volcano. There are a lot of free space in Basketania because people only live on the mountains. Their houses are tilted but it never falls so it's really safe. In Swimmer's Farm, there are treasures but it is hidden very deep so people can't really find it. Some coins have fallen out of the treasure box when a ship dropped it so people who live in their submarine found it and became rich. Track Castle is also a rich island; there's a gigantic castle with a running track surrounded by it. Many competitions happen in that area so people can come up to the high castle and watch.

As I described throughout the paragraph, it's easy to tell that the islands were apart. One day four volcanoes  erupted at once and it happened quite a lot so the islands started to change their shape and moved in closer to each other. A few years after, the volcano near Basketania stopped erupting, but the other volcanoes were still active so the islands got closer. Soccerville moved southeast, Basketania moved southwest, Swimmer's Farm moved northeast and Track Castle moved northwest. The river's dam on the Swimmer's Farm side broke so most of the water floated into that island's pool. The pond started to empty, also the rivers. Many years later all the volcanoes stopped erupting and the islands became one and looked like a doughnut.

The humans in "Doughnutvillian presents Sportsmania" sweats a lot, mostly when they're in the outside part of the country. Their temperature changes very quickly once they move towards the little pond in the middle. The weather still hasn't adapted to the fact that the volcanoes stopped erupting so it's still getting used to it. It happens to many people so they easily get sick but after a few weeks of getting used to the environment, they lived happily and peacefully every after!
